Waitlist mode — quotes and orders are not open yet
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 August 2026
MakerLane is a UK-based marketplace connecting customers with vetted local 3D-printing makers. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
MakerLane ("we", "us") operates makerlane.co.uk and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@makerlane.co.uk for any privacy question or request.
What we collect
- Waitlist and newsletter signups: your name, email address and the product category you are interested in.
- Maker applications: your name, email, location, printer and material details, lead times and any portfolio link you share.
- Analytics data: anonymised usage data (pages viewed, referrer, approximate region) collected via Google Analytics 4 only where you have given consent.
- Technical data: server logs and security data needed to keep the site available and free from abuse.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To operate the waitlist and let you know when quoting opens — consent.
- To review and respond to maker applications — legitimate interests and steps taken before entering a contract.
- To measure how the site performs and improve it — consent via our cookie banner.
- To protect the service from spam and fraud — legitimate interests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Cookies and analytics
Essential cookies keep the site working and are always on. Analytics cookies only load after you accept them in our cookie banner; we use Google Consent Mode v2, so no analytics identifiers are set until you consent. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your site data and reloading the page.
Sharing your data
We share data only with processors who help us run MakerLane: our hosting and database provider, our transactional email provider (used to send confirmations from notify.makerlane.co.uk), and Google Analytics where consented. All processors act on our instructions under written agreements. When quoting opens, we will share only the details necessary to fulfil an order with the maker matched to that order, and we will tell you before we do so.
How long we keep it
Waitlist and newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Maker applications are kept for up to 24 months after a decision. Analytics data is retained for 14 months.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, and to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email hello@makerlane.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Storage and transfers
Our data is stored on servers within the UK/EEA where possible. Where a processor transfers data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as MakerLane develops — in particular when paid quoting and orders go live. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
